Abstract
The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan has attempted to predict the developments of automotive production and automotive-related engineering for the next 25 years. This study has been conducted to establish a guideline for the development of automotive production engineering in the 21 st century.
In order to predict these developments, the Delphi method was used to most effectively conduct a survey as to the time of automotive technology realization and the priority of each.
The results of the survey revealed that to keep up with environmental issues and diversification of values, the time of the realization of these technologies would be much quicker and their priority levels much higher than so far presumed.
