Abstract
A new solution for a CO2 remote welding system developed by Comau is now available on the market. The core of the system, designed for laser stitch welding of automotive body components, is a patented fast beam delivery system that allows to weld in every position inside the working volume.
Furthermore the optical head is part of a gantry structure that makes the system suitable for operating in a wide working volume with impressive dynamics. The machine control system has been designed to optimise the repositioning movements of the gantry in order to maximize the laser duty cycle increasing productivity. A user friendly interface has been designed for managing this innovative system: both pc based teaching programming via HandBox and off line programming RobCAD environment based are available. The new Comau system offers high productivity, maximum flexibility and minimum station set-up.
