Abstract
In this paper, in order to investigate the influence of two-intake ports interference on the swirl generation in a four-valve DI diesel engine, the swirl generation levels and flow resistance were measured using a swirl meter on a steady flow rig and the three-dimensional velocity components close to the valve exit and within the cylinder were measured using hot-wire anemometry (HWA). The interference between two intake-ports was explored and the influence of the interference on the swirl generation was studied.
