Abstract
A series of stir-cast Al-Pb alloys with lead content from 0 to 25 wt.% has been produced using a new foundry technique followed by rolling. Wear tests were carried out on the MM200 wear machine to determine friction and wear characteristics of the Al -Pb alloys. The results show the wear amount and friction coefficient of cast Al -Pb alloy varies with the increase of lead content, At about 15wt.%Pb there are minimum value in bulk wear and in the coefficient of friction. Optical and scanning electron microscopy were e mployed to investigate the mechanism of friction and wear.
