Abstract
The feature of flame propagation under the condition with the positive or negative corona discharge has been investigated using a constant volume vessel. A homogeneous propane-air mixture was used and six equivalence ratios from 0.7 to 1.5 [-] were tested. Combustion pressure record was measured and flame front behavior was observed in order to clarify an influence of corona discharge on the combustion characteristics. The flame propagation is enhanced with increasing the input voltage, therefore the flame front behavior is influenced by the positive and negative corona discharge. The burning period of rich mixture is shortened by the positive corona discharge, as compared with that of stoichiometric mixture.
