Abstract
In this article, a vehicle model is presented in order to simulate the shifting transient characteristics of a passenger car with an automatic transmission. The presented vehicle model is coupled with the dynamic model of an automatic transmission. In order to identify the parameters of the vehicle model, we built test equipment with an accelerometer into a conventional vehicle and performed road tests. and verify the simulation result, experiments on a proving ground with a real car are performed.
With the vehicle model, we simulated the dynamic characteristics during shifting benchmarked with experimental results in this paper. And, a modal analysis is carried out to investigate the effect of the vehicle model in the frequency domain and to obtain the transfer function of the vehicle model. In addition, we presented some numerical results in the time domain for analyzing the effect of each stiffness element, such as engine mountings and suspension system.
