Abstract

As I see it, vehicle safety is not about adding airbags, or just making cars with stronger passenger cells; it is about the relentless pursuit by our people to master many diverse scientific fields such as occupant biomechanics, vehicle structural dynamics, and computer aided engineering. It's about knowing how vehicles perform in real world road crash environments, and bringing this all together to create cars that really are safer for our customers and the community. In short, it is about a corporate culture and a persistent attitude among our engineers, technical staff and management, of being dedicated to doing this integrally within the product development process.
