Abstract
Atmospheric pressure non-thermal plasma assisted catalyst (Ag/Al2O3 and Au/Al2O3) systems was applied to NOx reduction in a simulated diesel engine exhaust gas. The catalytic activities of Ag and Au/Al2O3 assisted by plasma for NOx reduction were investigated under the condition of NOx 1610 ppm, C3H6 3200 ppm (C1/NOx = 5.96) and 10% O2 over the temperature range of 100~400 oC. The increase of energy density in plasma reactor promoted NO to NO2 conversion which resulted in the activities of catalyst at the wide temperature range. The NOx conversion of plasma-Ag/Al2O3 was 40~90% at the 250~400 oC and the plasma-Au/Al2O3 showed remarkable low temperature reduction activity of NOx at 100~250 oC. In this study, helium was used as a balance gas to measure N2 product with gas chromatography and the confirmation of the activities in N2 balance was also presented.
