Abstract

Braking behaviour of vehicle combinations differs from other vehicle categories. Inappropriate braking of these vehicles may cause heavy accidents because of (i) relatively longer stopping distances, (ii) longer reaction time in the air transmission, (iii) higher energy output of brakes, (iv) tendency towards jack-knifing, etc. Application of electronically controlled braking systems (EBS) may contribute to significantly improve braking performance of such vehicles.
