Abstract
Generally the calibration methodology of a new engine control strategy is based on calibrators experience and sensitivity. In this way its not possible a complete analysis of the system capability due to the restriction of the strategy itself. Nowadays new options due to the development of innovative bypass techniques are achieved. In fact advanced bypass solutions allow to test different engine control strategies to be integrated in existing ECU. This paper shows the potentiality of these systems using as example an activity performed to test and calibrate a different engine control strategy to decrease catalyst converter light-off time during warm-up phase, with a bypass technique.
