TTCAN an Improvement of CAN

Abstract

The presentation will give an overview of TTCAN (time-triggered communication) and what are the mechanisms used by TTCAN. TTCAN can be used on top of different CAN physical layers, like ISO 11898-2 (high-speed transceiver) and ISO 11898-3 (fault-tolerant transceiver). TTCAN can also be used in combination with the ‘oldfashion’ CAN, as used today by the most car manufacturers. The advantage of TTCAN is that it will allow using CAN-based networks for closed-loop control. Another benefit is the increase of real-time performance in CAN-based in-vehicle networks.
