ABSTRACT

Areas of the internal-combustion engine torque performance worth optimization may be identified with the time density map for the engine. To this purpose it is necessary to log engine torque and speed that change in working time. The specific design of agricultural tractors most often makes the direct measurement of engine torque impossible. It is potential to solve this problem by indicating the engine and calculating engine torque on the basis of measured pressure. The paper contains the proposal of a measuring system that is designed to measure cylinder pressure and engine speed and to calculate engine torque on the basis these parameters. Logged data will be periodically sent to the external personal computer with the help of a cellular modem using the GPRS technology. The diversity of tractor work in all seasons is a cause of considerable changeability of tractor engine loads. For this reason several years of failure-free work of the whole system are required. Therefore, an industrial automation computer was applied in the proposed system that will guarantee a completely autonomic running of the system.
