Abstract
This paper describes the activity involved in the choice of the chain drive system architecture of the new V8 Maserati engine, using CAE and experimental techniques. As the timing drive architecture is fairly complex and the engine speed limit is quite high, the dynamic phenomena to be faced needed an important work in understanding causes and in trying to optimise the system.
Dynamic calculations and experimental results are presented as the evidence of a deep interaction, necessary to reach a good level of system reliability.
