Abstract
An experimental and computational analysis of the dry sump lubrication system of the new Maserati V8 engine is presented. The dry sump advantages, disadvantages and main theoretic and functional characteristics are also given. The experimental analysis pays particular attention to the schematic description of the specific dry sump lubrication assembly of the examined engine. Moreover an investigation of oil levels and pressure values inside the scavenge pumps intake manifold is presented. Finally a 1D and a 3D simulation analysis is carried out aiming to reproduce the most significant phenomena by adopting two different CFD codes.
