FISITA signs agreement in China to develop new global register and certification scheme

22 October 2019

FISITA, the international membership organisation for the automotive and mobility systems engineering profession, has today signed an agreement with its Member Society China SAE to deliver the FISITA International Engineers’ Certificate in early 2020.

The FISITA International Engineers’ Certificate is a member-led initiative offering FISITA Member Societies the opportunity to establish their own national register of engineers and provide them the opportunity of global recognition via the FISITA International Engineers Certificate, and individual status within the International FISITA Register.

Following a period of consultation, FISITA and China SAE agreed a set of automotive engineering qualification standards, that will be published next year. FISITA CEO Chris Mason signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the launch of the China-SAE Congress & Exhibition in Shanghai with Jinhua Zhang, Executive VP and Secretary-General of China SAE (see image above) - this will establish China SAE as the first partner to FISITA International Engineers’ Certificate programme.

Chris Mason said: “In our rapidly advancing technological environment, this is a historic moment for FISITA as we agree to implement an innovative platform for our international membership community - this will provide universal recognition for engineers and enhance talent management for organisations across the world. I am thrilled to be working with China SAE to develop this process to which we have agreed an important framework that will see the roll-out of the FISITA International Engineers’ Certificate early next year.”

Jinhua Zhang from China SAE said: “With the progress of globalisation, an agreed standard of recognition to chart an engineer’s capability is fundamental to improve the efficiency of human resource management. We’re delighted to be working with FISITA to establish the International Engineers' Certificate – this is vital for stimulating the growth of engineering talent, supporting the development of engineers’ capability and improving the quality and ethics of engineering and end-product.”

In addition to China SAE, the new certification scheme is also being supported by 12 other FISITA Member Societies, who will look to implement the system next year:
