FISITA President and Vice Chief Engineer of China FAW, President of R&D Center of China FAW , Dr. Li Jun, marked the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of FISITA Member Society IAESL(The Institute of Automotive Engineers of Sri Lanka). Dr. Jun Li was invited by Mr. Neville Kulasekara, President of IAESL to join the celebrations on December 1st in Colombo.
IAESL was founded in 1988 and joined FISITA in 1998. The Sri Lankan organisation has maintained a close relationship with FISITA, including regular participation in the biennial FISITA World Automotive Congress, FISITA Council meetings and other activities.
During the celebrations, which were held in the Galadari Hotel in Colombo, Dr. Li extended his warmest congratulations to IAESL on behalf of FISITA and SAE China. He also congratulated all IAESL members and wished them all success for the future. Dr. Li made a presentation summarising FISITA's activities and expressed his appreciation for the continued support from IAESL throughout the years.
Dr. Li commented on how he was looking forward to IAESL's continued cooperation with FISITA to realise FISITA’s aims and objectives and was interested in further ways of collaborating with IAESL to contribute to the global automotive industry, by working towards creating efficient, affordable, safe and sustainable automotive transportation.
Dr. Li also introduced Mr. Murli Iyer, Executive Advisor Global Affairs of SAE International, Vice President of I&E Relation Committee of FISITA and Mr. Takao Kubozuka, Executive Director of JSAE and Vice President of Asia of FISITA.
He informed members that the FISITA Internal and External Relations Committee should be seen as a platform for small societies to express their requests, their voices, and have their say at FISITA meetings. Dr. Li also stated that FISITA has always attached great importance to serving and supporting small societies, who greatly contribute to its membership, including facilitating the mentoring of relationships between established and small societies, and identified opportunities for cooperation with related external organisations whose missions are in harmony with those of FISITA.
Dr. Li reiterated that FISITA would keep the tradition going forward and provide continuous support to those members. He once again wished all members a very happy anniversary and commented that he was confident that IAESL would continue to grow and prosper while making contribution to strengthening FISITA, who would always be an active supporter in their efforts.
